Dreams Under Barb Wire
By Elías Snæland Jónsson
During the Korean War a large number
of American soldiers come to the small
town of Keflavik in Iceland. Under the barb
wire of the military base two very
different ways of life meet and
collide with dramatic consequences.
Dreams Under Barb Wire is a novel
about love and death in the time of Elvis
and Buddy, and of political and
cultural conflict in a small Icelandic
community that is changed forever
by the American presence - all
seen through the eyes of a
young boy.
